To promote sustainable consumption in Germany, the National Programme for Sustainable Consumption (NPNK) and the resulting Centre of Excellence for Sustainable Consumption (KNK) were established. The KNK supports the implementation and further development of the NPNK, pursuing the three key objectives of ‘informing’, ‘networking’ and ‘supporting the NPNK’.
In previous projects, ConPolicy has already supported the KNK with expert scientific guidance, the networking of relevant stakeholders and the further development of its information and communication services. The new project builds on this work whilst also expanding it: there is a strong focus on systematic scientific research into current issues, on new in-person and dialogue formats, and on the user-centred further development of existing services such as the Climate Scale.
The project is divided into three work packages:
- Work Package 1 ‘Inform’: Further development of the KNK’s information and communication services, including the website, newsletter, public relations materials and the Climate Scale
- Work Package 2 ‘Networking’: Forum on Sustainable Consumption, organisation of further expert discussions and dialogue formats, and networking
- Work Package 3 ‘Supporting the NPNK’: Academic support for the KNK and addressing current issues relating to sustainable consumption through short-term scientific studies.
Within the project, ConPolicy is primarily responsible for providing expert academic support, as well as for the design and implementation of various event formats, such as expert discussions, dialogue sessions and the Sustainable Consumption Forum. In addition, ConPolicy is involved in the further development of the Climate Scale and provides support for the ongoing work of the Centre of Excellence for Sustainable Consumption.
