This document is closely related to the position paper published in 2016 by the Resource Commission, entitled "A resource-efficient Europe – A program for climate, competitiveness and employment". This had demonstrated that a strengthened resource policy means economic and social benefits for national economies. The paper at hand focuses on the necessary steps in the field of ecological product policy in order to broadly anchor resource-conserving and efficient products and services in the economy and society. This is one of the necessary prerequisites for implementing a climate and resource change in real life. The text briefly describes how the product labeling authority could work to promote the resource efficiency and recyclability of products, which information should be requested by the labeling authority, and the practical effect that can be expected by the work of this authority.
