With its report on the IT security situation in Germany 2020, the German Federal Office for Information Security (BSI), as the federal cyber security authority, provides a comprehensive and well-founded overview of the threats to Germany, its citizens and its economy in cyber space. In addition, countermeasures by the BSI and the solutions found together with partners for the actors in the state, economy and society are presented. The IT security situation in Germany remains tense. For example, attackers used malware for cyber-criminal mass attacks on private individuals, companies, authorities and other institutions, but also for targeted attacks. The attackers also exploited currently relevant topics such as the COVID-19 pandemic.
