The results of the Federal Environment Agency's latest environmental awareness study provide new insights into the public's perception of environmental and climate challenges. The key findings show that environmental and climate issues are losing priority and that people have less confidence in mitigating the consequences of climate change. In addition, increasing heat stress is a health problem for many people. Heat protection and thus effective climate adaptation are perceived as insufficient in this context. Finally, the study finds that scientific findings are only anchored in people's consciousness to a limited extent. The reasons for this are not only to be found in the spread of misinformation but also in inadequate reporting on specific topics, such as biodiversity.
