UNCTAD Research Partnership PlatformConPolicy presents study results about indicators for digital consumer protection

In the context of the eighth meeting of the UNCTAD Research and Partnership Platform ConPolicy-Director Prof. Dr. Christian Thorun presents study results about indicators for digital consumer protection. The presentation summarizes research results of a study, that was conducted jointly by ConPolicy and Prof. Dr. Lucia Reisch (Copenhagen Business School) for the German Federation of Consumer Organisation. The results of the study were initially presented in March 2017 at the G20 Consumer Summit.

The study identifies a total of 65 indicators grouped into the following eight dimensions:

  • Access
  • Economic interest
  • Product safety and liability
  • Privacy and data protection
  • Information and transparency
  • Education and awareness
  • Dispute resolution and redress
  • Governance and participation 

The UNCTAD Research Partnership Platform was created in 2010 in order to foster research in the fields of competition and consumer protection.
