ConPolicy-Director advises Chinese Government on consumer protection in E-Commerce

Europe is the continent with the highest E-Commerce turnover in business-to-consumer transactions world-wide. Yet, the Asia-Pacific region is picking up quickly with high two-digit growth rates. While consumers benefit from the rise of E-Commerce, it also creates new challenges to consumer protection. In the context of a joint conference of the EU-China Trade Project, German International Cooperation (GIZ) and the Chinese State Administration for Industry and Commerce (SAIC) benefits, challenges and possible solutions for effective consumer protection in E-Commerce and for alternative dispute resolution mechanisms are discussed. In addition to EU Consumer Protection Commissioner Neven Mimica and the Chinese Minister Zhang Mao also Prof Dr Christopher Hodges from Oxford University, many Chinese experts and Prof Dr Christian Thorun, ConPolicy-Director, will participate.
