The effects of climate change in the form of heat waves and heavy rainfall are increasingly affecting consumers in their private lives. Adapting to changing climatic conditions is progressively becoming a task for consumer organizations. The Verbraucherzentrale North Rhine-Westphalia (VZ NRW) has already initiated numerous advice and information services in this area in recent years and intends to continue developing these activities in a longer-term strategic concept.
Therefore, the VZ NRW has commissioned ConPolicy to provide strategic advice on its climate adaptation activities. Hence, ConPolicy will develop a picture of consumer protection activities in the field of climate adaptation, research and prepare existing offers of consumer-related climate adaptation in North Rhine-Westphalia through a market analysis and derive recommendations for action for the VZ NRW from the comparison between the existing offers and the demand. In order to incorporate the expertise and conceptual ideas of the Climate Adaptation Group in the VZ NRW, participatory formats are planned for the entire duration of the project.
