Despite growing competition from other political and social challenges, public support for climate action in Germany remains high in early 2026. The "Klima-Update 2026" by More in Common shows, however, that while a clear majority recognizes human-caused climate change and supports stronger climate policies, many people lack confidence in a fair, well-designed, and future-oriented implementation. The findings underline that climate action continues to have a broad societal mandate, but that this mandate will only become effective if clear political leadership and enabling framework conditions are in place.
