The Great Coalition is aiming to widen the mandate of the German Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFin) to encompass consumer protection in addition to solvency and market behaviour. Also on the European level consumer protection in financial services plays a more and more important role. At its 3rd forum for Consumer Protection BaFin seeks to stimulate debate among different stakeholders about how consumer protection in financial services could be fostered. At the conference numerous national and international experts present there views. Among these are Executive Director for Horizontal Issues at BaFin, Gabriele Hahn, Dr Klaus Stein from the German Federal Finance Ministry, and Klaus Müller, Director of the German Federation of Consumer Organisations. ConPolicy-Director Prof Dr Christian Thorun moderates the forum.
