In October 2015, the G7-States issued the Declaration Action for Fair Production. The Declaration aims at improving compliance with social and environmental standards in global supply-chains. Today, the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) jointly with the Consumer Goods Forum (CGF) hosted a conference which aimed at developing recommendations how this declaration should best be implemented. In this context, three questions were addressed: What should be the relationship between regulation and self-regulation? What are key success factors for multistakeholder initiatives? And how can capacity building be improved? ConPolicy director Prof Dr Christian Thorun moderated the conference at which international experts participated.
