Ten years ago the Dutch Authority for Consumers & Markets (ACM) was created. In this authority competences for competition enforcement and consumer protection were bundled. On the occasion of its 10th anniversary the Authority hosted a conference on impact assessment with respect to measuring the performance of competition authorities and consumer authorities. In addition to the 200 guests of the conference, the Chairman of the ACM, Chris Fonteijn, and the former as well as the current Chief Competition Economist of the European Commission, Professor Tommaso Valletti and Massimo Motta, participated in the conference.
At a panel on consumer protection, the director of ConPolicy, Prof Dr Christian Thorun, presented his views on how to measure consumer detriment in order to improve consumer policy.
