Supporting selected ASEAN countries in consumer protectionConPolicy conducts appraisal mission in South East Asia

In the ASEAN Strategic Action Plan for Consumer Protection (ASAPCP) 2016-2025, the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) addresses a multitude of goals to improve consumer protection in South East Asia. Within the framework of German development cooperation, the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) is preparing a project to support selected ASEAN countries in implementing this action plan.

ConPolicy supports the GIZ in the preparation of this project. For this goal, Prof. Dr. Christian Thorun and Dr. Max Vetter recently returned from a two-week appraisal mission in South East Asia. During this mission, they conducted interviews with relevant stakeholders from ministries, consumer organizations, businesses and other donors in Indonesia, Myanmar, Cambodia and Thailand. Based on the findings obtained during this mission and further research, suitable goals for the GIZ project will be formulated.
