This 2020 annual report provides an overview of the numerous activities of the German Federal Network Agency in the areas of communication, digitization and energy supply and others. During the Corona pandemic in 2020, the Federal Network Agency was able to ensure that all telecommunications networks were and continue to be stable. Telecommunication providers have coped well with the increase in traffic. Nevertheless, as a precautionary measure, in the unlikely event of network congestion, the Federal Network Agency has published a guide with solutions and measures for reliable traffic management. In terms of frequency regulation, the Federal Network Agency decided to provide the 450 MHz frequencies primarily for critical energy and water management infrastructures. The amendment to the Telecommunications Act (TKG) was discussed intensively, and in the area of digitization and networking, companies currently have the opportunity to report on their experiences with digital platforms. When determining the needs for the expansion of the power grid, the scenario framework for 2021 to 2035 was the starting signal for the upcoming grid development plan. And finally, in the energy sector, the first round of tenders in accordance with the coal-fired power generation termination act was successfully carried out. These and other details are described in detail in the annual report.
