German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, declaration following the G20-meeting of digital ministers

Digitization is a driver of globalization. Every second citizen of the world is online. Today, hardly a company comes without the Internet. Integrated value chains, industry 4.0, digital commerce, social networks and platforms make the world come even closer together.

On 1 December 2016, Germany took over the G20 presidency. Digitization as an important element for a strong, sustainable, balanced and inclusive growth of the world economy will be one of the central themes. On 6 and 7 April 2017, a meeting of the G20 digital ministers on "Digitalization: Policies for a digital future" took place for the first time in Düsseldorf.
